One day an earthling was minding their business, mowing their lawn, when they where visited by aliens. They were taken to a new planet and traveled through time to the year 2191 to be given a sort of alien Ted Talk.

The earthling learned the aliens understood the value of community in a larger sense than we are used to. Earthlings using noisy, gas-powered, lawn care tools were not just polluting the Earth. The aliens told them of the butterfly effect that ripples through space, affecting the cosmic community. Not just physically polluting either, but a social attitude of selfishness and a lack of a conscious effort to think about your neighbors. This way of thinking moves through the galaxy like a virus and needs an intervention to stop the spread.

This is why it was important to find stewards like the earthling who shared the aliens’ values and were more than just passionate about their lawn. The earthling was chosen for their commitment to community. The aliens observed them driving around Austin and seeing lawn care professionals using electric blowers. The earthling would give them a big thumbs up and shout, “Heck yeah brother, eco-friendly tools! Team Earth!” 

The aliens knew the earthling could help change the stereotype of lawn care workers being a nuisance. That they could be more than faceless businesses disrupting the peace and quiet of the neighborhood. Those who spend their time working with their hands in the soil, tending to the grass and other native plants, were in fact guardians of their neighborhood and thus the planet. 

The earthling was returned to Earth in the year 2023 and immediately got to work with the alien’s vision. They dove into researching the best commercial-grade eco-friendly lawn care tools. Started making connections to source and obtain all the equipment needed, seeing it not just a job, but an investment in the community.
